ICB Courses
The ICB was established in 1931 with the aim of promoting bookkeeping qualifications and membership of an internationally recognised professional body.
The ICB conducts professional assessments for those persons who intend following a career in bookkeeping and accounting. The ICB qualifications are offered through Lemay's Training Centre which include a National Certificate Bookkeeping (NQF 3), Further Education and Training Certificate Bookkeeping (NQF 4), National Diploma Financial Accounting (NQF 5), National Diploma Financial Accounting (NQF 6) and a National Certificate Small Business Financial Management.
ICB Accounting Certification Programme (ACP)
Previously it was only possible to become an Accountant in South Africa if you went to University. Now it is possible for a Bookkeeper to become an Accountant. The ICB Accounting Certification Programme (ACP) takes the learner up to the level of Financial Accountant. Learners can continue their studies through the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA).
This is perfect for you if you want to be able to offer indispensable bookkeeping and accounting skills, or become a certified accountant someday.
The ACP takes you through 12 learning areas (subjects) and successive levels of bookkeeping and accounting. You can progress from a Certified Junior Bookkeeper up to a Certified Financial Accountant. If you’r keen to study even further you can choose to do the following:
- Become a Certified Accountant by taking some additional courses through the ACCA.
- Switch from financial accounting to management accounting through the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
- Specialise in taxation via a UNISA Higher Diploma
- Become a tax practioner through SAIT
- Become a chartered secretary through Chartered Secretaries South Africa (CSSA)

- Certified Financial Accountant
